Hi guys! I know it’s been a little bit since I made a post, but I’m back into the inspiration game now. I’ve been watching a lot of panning videos and have recently found a theme I wanted to try out, which is referred to as Pan Those Eyeshadows!
I have a lot of palettes, and just recently added the Morphe 35M Boss Mood to the collection. I have a habit of hoarding my favourite items and never wanting to use them except for special occasions, and then by the time I do want to use them they are on the verge of expiration.
So, what is Pan Those Eyeshadows? I’ve been watching TooMuchTash’s videos on YouTube (she didn’t start it, but it’s whose I’ve been following), and really it’s to get more use out of your collection and for people to step out of the box a bit and play around with shades they might not normally wear.
Currently, I have a total of 300 usable eyeshadows (I have one palette I keep for sentimental value and never use), and there is just no way I will end up using all these shades, and I just need to get over my “fear” of using up favourite products. I can always buy more or find better alternatives. By doing this, I think I can try to move past these facts and utilize the shadows I own.
I’ve written down all the eyeshadows from every palette and the single eyeshadows I have as well. I will be choosing five shades to start with for the month of April that will be my focused-on shades, and then once I hit pan in the shadows, the next month I will choose a new one to replace it. For now, I will not be including the Morphe Boss Mood palette – I literally just got it a week ago and still want to play around with it a bit before focusing on using the shadows.
I will be random number generating then from 1 to 266 and predominately focusing on using those 5 shades. And they are:
Hi friends! Today I thought I would share with you the makeup that I wore yesterday for my birthday!
Let’s Get Started!
The base of the face stays the same for the most part. On days that I shower in the morning before work, I use the Nip+Fab Plumping Serum after to help hydrate my skin. I received this item in an iPsy or Boxycharm and have continued to repurchase it.
I use a small amount of the Hard Candy primer on the areas where I have the most redness (my t-zone and on the inwards of my cheeks), and then I use the Maybelline primer all over my face.
I could not use any other foundation than the Estee Lauder one as it is my favourite and I wanted my skin to look fabulous on my birthday!
I had to get a new concealer so I’ve picked up the Rimmel London Lasting Finish concealer. I set my face with the pressed powder from Maybelline, and then I baked my under eyes with the loose powder from Maybelline. While I bake, I filled in my brows with a pencil I received in a Boxycharm and then used the L’Oreal brow gel to smooth them over and make them last all day.
I used my all-time favourite butter bronzer to bronze my cheeks, chin and forehead up. I added some colour to my cheeks with the Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Paaarty, and then since I was keeping it neutral on the eyes, I went with a rosy champagne highlight from Pretty Vulgar.
To create on of my favourite eye looks ever, I use the Tarteist Pro Palette and then just one colour from the Yes Please palette.
I start off by using Chic in the crease with a big fluffy brush as my original transition shade. I then take a mix of Indie and Profesh on the same brush and start sweeping that into the crease to create a more cooler toned look. Next, I use a smaller blending brush and take Edgy on it and start slowly adding it to my outer corner and into the crease. Finally, I slowly added a little bit of Punk to deepen the outer corner. I take a little bit of Classic and Vintage and pack that onto the lid and under the brow bone. I smoke out my lower lash line with a bit of Indie and Edgy.
To spice up my look a bit, I take that bright yellow shade from the Yes Please palette and pop that into my inner corner. I curl my eyelashes, add my Essence Lash Princess mascara and Voila! all finished!
Hello Friends! Another week, another shop my stash! Once I finish this week’s use of makeup, I might switch around how I do my shop my stash’s or switch around this style altogether since a lot of what I use stays the same. But, I’ll focus on that in a bit!
LAST WEEK’S RESULTS
I used most of the items I set out to last week. I did use the Tarte palette for about two full looks and then incorporated the shadows a bit for one look that I split between both Colourpop and Tarte. Still in the process of testing out the Milani foundation but I like the coverage so far, and the highlighting trio from Milani is gorgeous; albeit it’s definitely filled with glitter than shimmer but still beautiful on the cheeks.
Items I’m Decluttering:
the Covergirl concealer – all finished up!
Maybelline eyeliner in a bronze shade – I rarely wear eyeliner and I tried wearing this this week and just didn’t like the outcome
THIS WEEK’S ITEMS
It is my birthday this week, so there’s some plans involved this week which means my makeup must look flawless! Which in turn means I’m choosing my ride or die favourites (that I currently own) to be a part of my makeup routine this week. So, most of these have been in the rotation already, but the Estee Lauder Double Wear is my favourite high end foundation and I love the way this looks blended out with my beauty sponge.
These are some of my all-time cheek favourites! Can’t go wrong with my butter bronzer, and the Mary Lou-manizer is my favourite highlight. But I couldn’t choose just one for the week. MAC’s Soft and Gentle is a golden highlight, and I also chose a highlighter I received in Boxycharm from Pretty Vulgar as it’s a rosy champagne colour.
My two favourite blushes are the Tarte (mini) Adventurous blush and another Boxycharm fave from Laura Geller.
The Essence Lash Princess mascara is my absolute favourite and it costs less than $5!
Don’t mind the dirty fingerprints! These two palettes don’t have the best packaging, but boy do I love them! The Tarteist palette is great to create more neutral, everyday looks and I already know which couple days this week I want to wear this palette.
Subculture, while it can be difficult to use, just has the grungiest colours that I love, and for the most part, I love every look that I’ve created with it and am excited to play with it this week!
I didn’t pick any lip products this week because with the frigid wind in the GTA, my lips have just been begging for good ol’ lip balm instead!
So, yes, I might finish out my Shop my Stash series in the next few weeks after I declutter some more palettes from my collection and then I’m thinking about starting the Pan Those Eyeshadows challenge. But I will cross that bridge when I come to it!
Hello Friends! Today I bring you a new series about new makeup releases and if I’m thinking about purchasing them or just straight up passing on it.
Let’s get started!
For my next eyeshadow purchase I want to be inspired, and although this is a beautiful palette, it does not call out to me. I actually only own one ABH palette and it’s Subculture because every time I open it, I get excited to try something different. If the Vault didn’t cost so much, I would actually pick it up so that I could own the Prism palette too, but I don’t need that many more eyeshadow palettes in my collection that quickly.
I enjoy watching JKissa’s content on YouTube. I think she creates interesting and educational content. But again, this does not inspire me. Although it’s inexpensive, I do not want to spend my money on products I know I’m not going to use.
Now this palette inspires me! There’s something about the tones in this palette that has it calling my name. It’s not just your typical warm palette with a pop or two of colour. It has some cool tones, there’s a couple grundgy purple and gray shades. I don’t actually know who Daisy Marquez is, but I am thinking of purchasing this palette. I might wait until the end of the month to pick it up, but it’s the palette I’m most excited about lately.
I know there’s a lot of controversy surrounding Zoella lately, and I know a lot of consumers are not going to purchase this collection because of that. But I just am not interested in it because it looks boring; the eyeshadow palette especially. The packaging is super cute but again I just cannot spend my money on items I won’t use.
Now, surprisingly, I am interested in these plumping lip glosses. Even though I love lipstick and liquid lips, I have barely worn what I have and have been instead reaching for hydrating lip balms or glosses. I don’t know what it is about these but they’ve really caught my eye and I think would be super cute to wear during the summer months especially that coral shade. I’ll definitely be adding a shade or two of these to my next purchase from Colourpop.
That’s all I’m going to discuss today! What new releases are you looking to purchase or to pass up?
I used the Forever 21 palette and the Ace Beaute palette for a few days and then my Colourpop order came in and I couldn’t wait to try it out! So, that’s what I’ve been using the last few days on my eyes (if I’m wearing eyeshadow).
Items I’m decluttering:
BH Cosmetics Liquid Foundation – it just does not look good on my skin and it is patchy and worn off by the end of the day
Forever 21 Palette – the pigmentation is just not good. Will probably pass along to my sister
Colourpop Single Shadow in Nillionaire – I think this must have dried out because it does not have that good glittery pigmentation that it used to have.
Essence Setting Spray – I actually used this up so it’s headed to the trash!
LET’S GET TO THIS WEEK’S ITEMS!
Okay, so this first chunk hasn’t changed that much; I’ve just tried to narrow it down better.
For primers, I have the Maybelline Master Prime (Blur + Smooth) and the Hard Candy Color Correcting Primer. To be honest, I might purchase the Maybelline colour correcting primer this week because it is my favourite, and I just don’t see a difference nor do I think the Hard Candy one works well with my foundations.
For foundations, I picked up the Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation and I’ve heard generally favourable reviews so I thought I would test it out. And I kept in my Physician’s Formula Healthy Foundation because I love it.
I’ve added in my tried and true Butter Bronzer by Physician’s Formula. I love this bronzer! I managed to use up one already. I’ve added in a Note Blush I received in my Boxycharm a few months back, and I like the peachy colour on me. I kept in my Maybelline eyeshadow for my brows to be filled in, and then I finally added in two eyeliners; one from Maybelline and the other from Tarte. I don’t normally wear eyeliners, but since I’ve opened these I might as well see if I like them.
Next chunk for the face! I’ve kept in my staple concealer, brow gel and the mascara from last week. I’ve also added in the Wet N Wild MegaLength mascara; I actually forgot I had this and so it might be on the cusp of getting close to expiry. I’ve been loving my Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder and on days when I do not want my makeup to use I’ve been loving my Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder. I also just purchased the highlighting trio from Milani and am super excited to try it out!
So I ordered from Colourpop a few weeks ago when they were having a deal on creating your own palette with x number of shades and x number of face powders. I created the bundle where I received one highlight, one blush and one bronzer and then 12 different shadows. So far I’ve been pretty impressed with them especially the glitter/foiled shades and the highlighter.
Next. I just purchased a Milani lid topper in this gorgeous blue/purple reflect shade that I think would look beautiful over top the green shade from the Colourpop palette, or maybe one of the blues from the Subculture palette. Can’t wait to test it out!
Finally, I have this super old holiday palette from Tarte called Carried Away. I think this was my first “highend” palette. It came in like a makeup bag with a blush, setting powder and lipgloss’; most of which have since been decluttered. I used to love this palette! And I’m sure the formula is not as good as the Tarte shadows are now, but I would love to see what I can create with this palette. I’m very attached to this palette, so I’m sure even if I don’t end up using it, I would not be able to get rid of it.
That’s all for this week, folks! Hopefully this post will be “on-time” on Sunday!
I am an avid reader! I still use that to describe myself even though I’ve barely read any books in the past two years. Maybe it’s just easier to turn on Netflix and binge a whole series in two days than it has been for me to finish a book. I love reading, I do, but I have been slacking with making the time and effort to sit down and read a book from start to finish.
I track my progress through Goodreads. In 2015, I read 24 books. In 2016, 18. The last two years? A total of six between the two. Quite sad, really.
Well I am determined to finish at least 15 books this year. I went to Chapters yesterday, spent some money and bought four new books to get me out of this reading lull. I do have more to-be-read books on my bookshelf, but sometimes you need some NEW books to get you excited to get out of this reading slump!
The four books I bought were:
The Boy by Tami Hoag
Our Kind of Cruelty by Araminta Hall
Look for Me by Lisa Gardner
In a Cottage in a Wood by Cass Green
I’m most looking forward to reading Tami Hoag’s novel. She is a great crime and thriller novelist. I’ve read four of her books and I absolutely devour them. I am going to hold off on that one though and save it for a bit. Instead, I’m starting with In a Cottage in a Wood which is set in London and seems like it might border on thriller and horror.
What books are you currently reading? Any suggestions for me?
In today’s post, I will be sharing with you the items I’ve chosen from my makeup collection that I will focus on using. I find that I stick to my favourite items regularly and rarely rotate out palettes or face products to know if I truly like the others I have purchased. I’m hoping my doing this Shop my Stash series, I can find products I love and get creative with them, or declutter products out of my collection completely.
Let’s Get Started!
First, we are starting with the base for the face! A couple of these items are my regular go-to products such as the Hard Candy primer; as I need redness control for most of my face; and the Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless. The others are newer to my collection, or I want to try out with other products to see if they work together. The Essence setting spray is almost used up and I would just like to finish it.
Next up, Foundations!
My two staple foundations are the Estee Lauder foundation and the Physician’s Formula. I’m hoping to try these out with some of the newer face products to see what works the best.
The BH Cosmetics foundation is the one I really need to focus with my staple primers and powders. I don’t think this one works for my skin, but I haven’t given it enough of a fair shot, or worn it regularly enough to know if I truly dislike it or not.
These are more staple products that will probably be in the rotation every week. The eyeshadow I use to fill in my brows; the brow gels I just want to focus on using up. The Covergirl concealer is the only one I use, and I do want to try out more concealers this year. Finally, I currently have 3 mascaras on the go, but the Wander Beauty one is the oldest so I would like to use it before it expires.
Next, we have some more face products. The butter bronzer is my favourite bronzer (although I’ve tried very few bronzers), and it took me well over a year to finish my previous butter bronzer.
I think this week I can finish up the Tarte blush in Paaarty, and then based on the eyeshadow palettes I chose I wanted another warmer toned blush (Feisty).
The Pretty Vulgar highlighter we just received in Boxycharm this month, and it’s a rosy champagne shade which I’m excited to use.
This was in a Boxycharm sometime last year and it’s the Pur x Boxycharm contour and highlight palette. The highlight shades are a beautiful golden colour, but I’ve never used the contour shades. I don’t know how to contour, so I’m going to try and learn that this week and see if I enjoy this palette more than I already do.
For the most part I am sick of warm toned eyeshadow palettes. But I own a lot of them. I’m also the type of person who will reach for four different makeup palettes to create one eyeshadow look. I’m hoping that by limiting myself to a few palettes a week, I can explore them enough to create cohesive looks with them. I really enjoy using the Grandoise palette from Ace Beaute that we received in a Boxycharm several months ago and I like the formula.
Before I had a lot of palettes, I bought this palette from Forever 21. From what I remember the shades were okay to good, but I haven’t used this palette in a long time. I want to try out this palette again and see if I like it enough to keep it or to pass on.
The single eyeshadow from Colourpop and the quad from L’Oreal I’ll rotate in if I want to.
Finally, we move on to lip products! I used to love wearing lipstick, but lately not so much. My lips tend to get very dry lately (and in the winter especially) and I normally stick with lip balm. But I do love lip products and I have a bunch that I just need to either get the use out of them or pass them to my sister/throw out.
I picked one dark lipstick; Havana Nights from Ofra. We received this in a Boxycharm a few months ago, and I just don’t know if I’m a fan of the formula of Ofra’s, but it’s a pretty vampy colour that I want to try out. The next three are old favourites that I just need to see if they still work well for me, or if I need to phase them out of my collection.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s Shop My Stash! I’m hoping to do this every week or every two weeks, as I love watching these videos on YouTube. If you’re interested in seeing other posts from me or ideas, let me know!
